IndusInd Bank Platinum Credit Card Review

Rate this post

IndusInd Bank has three credit card offerings that start with Platinum. These are Platinum, Platinum Aura, and Platinum Aura Edge variants. IndusInd needs to stop confusing customers with many credit cards having similar benefits. In this post, we review the simplest variant, IndusInd Bank Platinum credit card. This card used to be on the Mastercard platform but is now issued on Visa.

Fees and Charges

In line with IndusInd Bank’s other card offerings, there is no annual fee for the Platinum credit card. We need to pay the joining fees and we get gift vouchers against it. There are many options for the gift vouchers based on customer eligibility . Below are the current fees and offer for this card.

Joining Fee Rs 3000 plus taxes ~Rs 3540
Welcome Benefit Rs 3000 worth of gift vouchers
Annual Fee NIL

The online voucher codes are a Gyftr redemption. So, we can redeem it for Amazon or Flipkart vouchers. The offline vouchers include brands like Bata, Pantaloons, Titan, and HiDesign.

Rewards

  • Utilities, Insurance, Govt Services, Education, Real Estate and Rental Payments: 0.7 RP/Rs 150
  • All Other Spends: 1.5 RP/Rs 150

Below transactions will not get any cashback on the IndusInd Platinum credit card:

×   Fuel Spends

Most of the categories that we generally have high spends on are under the 0.7 RP/Rs 150. This continues to hurt the total reward rate of most of the IndusInd Bank credit cards.

Complimentary Airport Lounge Access

There is no complimentary lounge access using Priority Pass or other cards. But, the card will be eligible for Visa/Mastercard access benefits.

Other Benefits

  • BookMyShow: Buy one and get the second one free up to Rs 200. Valid 2 times/month.
  • 1% Fuel Surcharge Waiver for transactions between Rs 400 to Rs 4000.

Rewards Redemption

Each reward point is equal to Rs 0.65 for cash redemption. We can also transfer reward points at 1:1 ratio to InterMiles and Vistara.

  • E-Vouchers and products on IndusMoments
  • Airlimiles transfer to InterMiles/Vistara at 1 RP = 1 Airmiles
  • Statement Credit at 1 RP = 65 paise

Final Thoughts

There are some online spending like utility bills/rent payments where we get 0.7% rewards. Ever since, this rule came in I do not see a point for using IndusInd Bank credit cards. The next devaluation was reduction of reward point value for statement credit. With these two changes, the reward rate for most IndusInd Bank credit cards (even premium) is bad. In some cases, it is worse than entry level cards like Amazon Pay ICICI, Flipkart Axis and Ace.
