IndianOil Citibank Credit Card Review

With petrol prices hovering near Rs 100, it has become important to look for ways to save on that spending. The best way to do it is to use a fuel credit card. Before choosing a fuel credit card, it is best to choose which fuel pump will be convenient for you – IOCL, HPCL, or BPCL. This is because all fuel credit cards are specific to a brand. In this article, we review the IndianOil Citibank credit card.

Rewards

The IndianOil Citibank credit card earns Turbo Points for all transactions.

  • IndianOil Fuel: 4 Turbo Points/Rs 150 + 1% fuel surcharge waiver ~3.67% Return
  • Grocery: 2 Turbo Points/Rs 150 ~1.3% Return (Incremental 1X Turbo Points capped at 34/month)
  • Others: 1 Turbo Point/Rs 150 ~0.67% Return

We get 4X Turbo Points for fuel only at this list of IndianOil outlets. So, do verify this list to see if your preferred fuel pump is eligible. The second restriction is that we get Turbo Points only on individual fuel transactions up to Rs 10000. This is enough for individual usage.

The capping of incremental 1X Turbo Points at 34/month for Grocery is rather puzzling. This means we get 2 TP/Rs 150 only on Grocery spending up to Rs 5100/month which should be sufficient for families.

Rewards Redemption

The best redemption option for the IOCL Citi card is for fuel. In this case, 1 Turbo Point = Rs 1. Redemption can be done by SMS for fuel transactions.

REDEMPTION OPTION VALUE OF 1 TURBO POINT MINIMUM POINTS

Final Thoughts

The IndianOil Citibank credit card is a decent card for fuel. With no upper cap on fuel rewards, we can simply spend Rs 30000 on fuel alone to get the annual fee waiver. The negative of this card is that the 4X Turbo Points are valid only for select IndianOil outlets.

If you are looking for an IOCL fuel card with better rewards, the IOCL Axis card is a good alternative as well. If you are looking for other fuel credit cards, do check out the list of best fuel credit cards in India.
